At the members meeting on 5 May 2023 the equestrian community of Tewksbury expressed gratitude for the exemplary leadership of Cathy Foster, who decided to step down as President of TTA. Now, a new era begins as Jeannie Shuster assumes the role of our esteemed association's incoming president.
This transition marks a significant moment for the organization, as Jeannie steps into the role to carry on the legacy of her predecessor and lead the association into a promising future.
In her heartfelt speech, Cathy conveyed her deep appreciation to the association for the enduring trust and confidence placed in her.
"It has been an incredible honor and privilege to be a part of this great organization and dedicatedly serve the Tewksbury equestrian community for nearly three decades. The collaborative efforts with the board members, volunteers, and fellow riders, many of whom have become lifelong friends, have been immensely rewarding. Together, we have achieved remarkable milestones and made a lasting impact on our community".
Amongst Cathy's achievements are the improvement and expansion of the relations with landowners, who graciously allow us trail access on their lands and the professionalization of the organization including the transitioning into a qualified 501(c)3 nonprofit community organization.
Cathy has played a pivotal role in establishing and nurturing strong partnerships with key stakeholders of TTA, including the Tewksbury Land Trust, NJ Conservation Foundation, and the Tewksbury Township Equestrian Committee. With her exceptional leadership, the trail system has expanded, and diligent efforts have been made to ensure the trails remain accessible and well-maintained. The collective dedication of Cathy, the Board, and numerous volunteers has resulted in the annual trail pace and the landowners' appreciation/Christmas party, which have become highly anticipated highlights of each year.
Now our association opens a new chapter with Jeannie Shuster as our new president. In her speech Jeannie thanked Cathy for all her contributions and inspiration. Jeannie emphasized her plans to build upon the foundation laid by Cathy and her commitment to further advancing the TTA and the equestrian community.
Jeannie, a long standing member of the TTA, Board member and trail committee member brings her expertise, passion, and commitment into her new role. One of Jeannie's priorities will be the successful launch of the TTA's new website. Initiated under Cathy's leadership, the Board has been working tirelessly to design a new website with exciting new capabilities for members to communicate, organize trail rides and share mementos.
Other areas of focus will be strengthening the relations with landowners and partnerships, as well as establish and nurture relationships with other equestrian organizations, sponsors, and Tewksbury community to promote growth and collaboration. Then Jeannie plans to listen to and address the concerns and aspirations of the association's diverse membership, ensuring their voices are heard and their interests represented.
The retirement of Cathy Foster as the president of the TTA marks the end of an era characterized by remarkable achievements and advancements. However, the appointment of Jeannie Shuster as the incoming president ushers in an exciting new phase filled with immense possibilities. As Jeannie assumes her role, the Tewksbury equestrian community eagerly anticipates the continuity of Foster's accomplishments and the introduction of fresh perspectives under Shuster's leadership.
