| Retired TB Gelding- Looking for a PERMANENT home to RETIRE my 20 yr, TB geld. He is a sweetheart of a horse, and would do best in a calm, quiet environment. He has had many, serious leg injuries in his life (also, ex-race horse) and can no longer be ridden. A backyard, or small facitlity is preferred. My requirements are: CARE is of utmost importance!!! Obviously, by a qualified horseperson. For the past 11+ yrs he has been under my care. He has been stall kept, with daily T/O (8-12 hrs)... nights, summer - but, for cost effectiveness, I would let him live in a safe, run-in shed (cleaned daily/regularly) with clean, fresh water DAILY... No sweet feed/senior, still on quality pellets (Legend - by Sothern States) only 2-4 qts daily - fed at an individual feeding station - so, no feed swapping, or fighting. Feed amounts vary, depending on grass/hay and quality... Prefer SQUARE bales, not round bales. Field should be big enough, for there to be plenty of grass, all season long, with safe, well maintained fencing. He would need to be in a very small group, as he is the low man, and does well with ONE orTWO friendly, buddies. Seaonal: Fly spray daily (I do 2x's, for pasture bd horses). Sheets/Blankets - on/off, as needed. I would NOT be a "BOARDER" per say, as I would not be there, but to visit on occasion, so GROOMING would be a necessity - once/twice wkly, hoof picking, more often. He would be the perfect companion horse, although, he's never been out with a mare??? I do not have the appropriate set-up, on the farm I lease, to retire him... plus, I'm looking for "permanent", and since I lease, there's no telling what tomorrow will bring! I'm looking at approx. $225 -$250 monthly... so, a "BACKYARD" set-up would be best suited. I know there's plenty of you out there... I just don't have the means to find you! Hope this helps!!!
